FAQs

What is in your plant-based dinnerware?

Our products are proudly plant-based. Made through unique technology, the bulk of the product is made with bamboo powder and then formed together using corn starch as a binder with very high temperatures. Any decals are printed on to the products using soybean dyes.

They are FDA and CE certified.

What is NOT in your dinnerware?

We could not be more excited to say that our dinnerware products are completely free of:
- Plastics
- BPA & Phthalates
- Lead or Mercury
- Toxins or any other nasty stuff!

Where is your dinnerware made?

Our products are proudly designed here on the South Coast of NSW, Australia by our very own graphic designer (In fact, she is our little bear's aunt!) However, to manufacture the products using the necessary technology our dinnerware is made in China.
We have developed an excellent relationship with our manufacturer, whose goal it is to find sustainable ways forward for the health of both people and the planet! We have every trust in their unique technologies and can say with confidence that their products are subject to regular testing- including biodegradability, materials and FDA certification.

How durable are your products?

We personally use this dinnerware on a daily basis at EcoCubs HQ with our own three (rather rough!) little bears. We are confident in the durability of the products for every day use with children or when outdoors.

Having said that, we cannot guarantee that our products are as tough as those made of pure plastic or melamine. Unfortunately, they are not 100% unbreakable.

As our plant-based products require a little more TLC than those made from synthetic materials, please consider whether they are right for you 🐻

Can I put your plant-based dinnerware in the dishwasher?

YES! They are absolutely dishwasher-safe.

What about the microwave?

Our products are safe to be used for short bursts in the microwave. However, as they are made of the same ingredients as your food (both plant-based!) they can become hot in the same way! So always exercise caution- protective wear & no longer than 1 minute microwave time MAX recommended.

Anything else I need to know?

Our plant-based dinnerware is also freezer safe and temperature safe from -30'c to 120'c. But please, do not place them in the oven!
Wash your dinnerware before first use. You might notice a dusty coating on your products when straight out of their packaging. This is just a non- harmful plant residue from the production process and it will wash off.

My bamboo products are starting to look a little sad, what should I do?

Sometimes bamboo products need a little TLC after time. To refresh the, it's super easy! Simply apply a small amount of oil (such as coconut or olive)- leave for 30mins & wipe off excess!

What surfaces will the suction base stick to?

Our suction bases are best on smooth surfaces such as plastic or glass. The videos made showing the strength of suction were made using the IKEA high chair.
